Yamaha Marine Changes Name of Propeller Manufacturing Plant to Yamaha Marine Precision Propellers, Inc.

Kennesaw, Ga., August 4, 2016 – Yamaha Marine Group announced today the renaming of its wholly owned subsidiary Precision Propellers Industries, Inc., (PPI, Inc.) to Yamaha Marine Precision Propellers, Inc.

Yamaha purchased Indianapolis-based PPI, Inc. in 2008 to better serve customers with stainless steel propeller solutions for an ever-increasing number of new boat/motor applications. The purchase strengthened production capacity and helped ensure high quality propellers for Yamaha Outboards, while fostering continued growth for the brand.

Since then, Yamaha Marine has experienced double-digit growth in propeller demand year over year due to advances in propeller technology and Yamaha’s associated performance enhancements such as its Shift Dampener System (SDS™). Yamaha Marine continues to address demand with the addition of personnel, equipment, and shift expansion, as well as the continuous monitoring of trends to meet the demand for Yamaha’s highest-demand propellers.

“Today, more than ever, we are focused on meeting the demands of Yamaha customers, so the time was right to change the name of the plant to reflect that direction,” said Bill Boehman, Vice President, Yamaha Marine Group. “And while we will continue to produce our Turbo® Propellers, which are a key part of Yamaha’s Endless Propeller Solutions, we will discontinue production of non-Yamaha branded propellers to increase capacity even further.”

Yamaha continues to expand its Endless Propeller Solutions, most recently with the launch of the Talon™ SDS™ Propeller family, its high-performance aluminum propellers for mid-range outboards. In June of this year, Yamaha introduced the Talon™ Pontoon SDS™ Propeller specifically for mid-range powered pontoons, and continues to add SDS enhancement and pitch options for its high-demand saltwater family of propellers, such as Reliance® SDS, Saltwater Series XL® SDS, and Performance and Performance XT™ brands.

Yamaha Marine products are marketed throughout the United States and around the world. Yamaha Marine Group, based in Kennesaw, Ga., supports its 2,000 U.S. dealers and boat builders with marketing, training and parts for Yamaha’s full line of products and strives to be the industry leader in reliability, technology and customer service. Yamaha Marine is the only outboard brand to have earned NMMA®’s C.S.I. Customer Satisfaction Index award every year since its inception. Visit www.yamahaoutboards.com.
