Hosts 100 Students for Facility Tour and Hands-on Manufacturing Experience

Indianapolis, In., October 6, 2017- Yamaha Marine Precision Propellers, Inc., hosted 100 students in celebration of National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day®) on Oct. 6.  The students, many of whom attend local technical schools in the Indianapolis area, had the opportunity to see how propellers are manufactured, and even poured steel to make a marine part of their own.

“Our country is in great need of skilled workers who can make a difference in the manufacturing industry,” said Jonathon Burns, General Manager, Yamaha Marine Precision Propellers, Inc. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to participate in National Manufacturing Day by welcoming these students and hopefully, communicating the importance of learning a trade that can further a career.”

National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day®) was established in 2012 to celebrate modern manufacturing and inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Hosted nationwide by the National Association of Manufacturers® (NAM), the preeminent U.S. manufacturers association and the nation’s largest industrial trade association, MFG Day® serves to amplify the voice of individual manufacturers and coordinate a collective chorus of manufacturers with common concerns and challenges.  MFG Day®also allows manufacturers to connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.

Observed by small and large manufacturers in every industrial sector, MFG Day® has participants from all 50 states including the National Marine Manufactures Association®. NMMA® is a proud supporter of MFG Day®, and promotes the event as a tool for recruitment and public education about the economic importance of manufacturers in the United States.
