At this event, the shoppers can buy their farmers market favorites and can take part in the week’s special event. These special events range from learning to fabricate bracelets and necklaces to a Youth and Family Fishing clinic hosted by a professional angler.

On Saturday June 30th, Yamaha/Ranger Pro Spencer Deutz hosted the second annual Moose Lake Youth and Family Fishing Clinic. As the kids registered, they were given sunglasses from SunButter Sunflower Butter and future angler t-shirts from the National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA).

Following registration, all 35 future anglers made their way upstairs in the hockey rink where Spencer had a seminar set up. During this PowerPoint seminar, Spencer educated the kids on aquatic nuisance species (ANS), fish identification, on the water safety and much more. Spencer also introduce Project Future Angler which gained the kids’ attention real quick.

Project Future Angler is sponsored by Yamaha Outboards and with this, one young aspiring fisherman or woman will win a trip to the 2019 NPAA Annual Conference held January 4th-5th in Minneapolis, MN. The winner will have the opportunity to meet the best professional walleye anglers in the country as well as receive their own customized professional fishing jersey. Also included will be a NPAA Future Angler membership, conference fees, two nights lodging and a $100 gas stipend. To enter the giveaway, the future angler must write an essay on what they learned during the clinic and how they can help stop the spread of ANS. Essays will be sent to Spencer and the winner will be chosen early November.

Following the seminar, the kids made their way to the park where four stations had been set up for them. The kids rotated through the stations which consisted of touring Spencer’s 2018 Yamaha Wrapped Ranger620FS fishing boat, casting and catching backyard bass, viewing bait on an underwater camera, proper handling of fish and safe hook removal.

As the clinic wrapped up, each future angler in attendance received a rod/reel combination, and ANS water bottle and a SunButter draw string bag filled with samples of SunButter on top of their t-shirts and sunglasses give to them earlier in the day.
