Spencer Deutz, from Moorhead, MN, has been involved in competitive sports since he was three years old. He turned his efforts to competitive walleye angling when he was 15 and started fishing professional events at the age of 20.

Spencer has fished in FLW and MWC events as a professional. He competes in the Masters Walleye Circuit and also fishes various events including AIM, Angler Young Angler, Devils Lake Casino and the Devils Lake Chamber of Commerce tournament. He has had ten top ten finishes with his best being crowned champion in 2016 at the AIM Devils Lake event with his wife Carley. He is also a 6x World Walleye Championship qualifier.

Spencer has become the lead for the National Professional Anglers Association’s Future Angler Foundation leading many youth and family fishing clinics around the Midwest. Since 2011, he has educated over 1000 kids on the importance of Aquatic Nuisance Species, fish identification, on the water safety, knot tying and much more.

Who am I?

  • Hobbies: Running, fishing, cooking, and spending time with Ted; their mini goldendoodle

Carley (Paulseth) Deutz, grew up in Moose Lake, MN and has been fishing on the end of her families dock since she was four years old.  Growing up she took yearly fishing trips with her father to Lac Seul in Canada.  It was on these trips she learned the sport of fishing and how to make the most of a day on the water.

In 2011, Carley and Spencer met while in graduate school in the Twin Cities.  They instantly connected over their love of fishing and the outdoors.  Carley enjoys helping Spencer and Ronnie pre-fish for tournaments and looks forward to their annual  ice fishing trip to Lake Winnipeg.  She is passionate about on the water safety, stopping the spread of aquatic hitch hikers and getting youth involved in fishing.
